The inaugural Biotech NZ Life Sciences Summit was held in Wellington on March 22 and 23, with the theme, Biotech for a better tomorrow. AROA was proud to be a platinum sponsor of the event, and nine team members attended for a full on two days of connecting, learning and sharing the AROA story.
Our Founder and CEO, Dr Brian Ward also spoke to the audience about AROA’s journey from concept to commercialisation.
At the Summit’s dinner function, held at Harbourside Function Centre, Dr Brian Ward was inducted into the inaugural BioTech New Zealand Hall of fame, recognising his significant contribution to the biotech sector.
Executive Director of BioTech New Zealand, Dr Zahra Champion, pictured below with Dr Brian Ward, says, “The Hall of Fame Award recognises very special individuals who have worked tirelessly within the biotech sector and have made a significant difference to individuals, companies and Aotearoa.”
Commenting on why he was chosen, Dr Champion says: “Brian is an inspirational leader, committed to developing the New Zealand biotech sector. In his previous role as CEO of NZBio, he worked hard to grow the biotech industry in New Zealand.
What I believe is truly outstanding is that Brian then seamlessly moved on to create his own successful company – AROA, lighting the way for aspiring kiwi entrepreneurs. Brian has shown true leadership, created opportunities for many, and always been honest about the journey.”
Joining Brian as inaugural members of the BioTech NZ Hall of fame are Brandon Capital’s Duncan MacKintosh and Dr Kjesten Wiig of the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research.
